Its my previlege to write something about this bike which is ruling the era since 2 decades ... Its none other than YAMAHA RX 100 .... Even though they stopped manufacturing this bike, the passion for this bike has never declined ... Am from South India and a proud owner of this bike ever since the Yamaha es*orts has launched it (1986) ... According to my engine/chassis number, my bike might have had manufactured in the first 1000 lot ... My dad owned it in 1986 and ever since that time I developed a passion for this vechile. In 1994 I bought a New RX 100 but frankly speaking there was a lot of diff. between my bike and my dad’s bike. Weight wise, Engine finishing wise or durability wise ... in 1996 I sold that bike and became the proud owner of RX 1986 model bike.
From that day to till date I never had any regrets regarding this bike ... I dont know how far you ppl believe but its still a sealed engine, even though I changed the piston rings once ... It had done 1.6 lacs Kms as of now but still its in a sound condition except that the pick up has come down ... ofcourse in 21 yrs 1.6 lacs Kms is less but I do have alternate vehicles, thats the reason why it had done so low mileage. My advice to all proud owners of RX 100 ... Do maintain good Transmission oil level and engine oil level without fail ...
This is were the engine gets spoil if u dont check the oil level regularly ... Couple of yrs back my brother bought Pulsar, I dont even dare to compare any other vehicle with RX 100 coz its matchless .... One will not get so much perfect balancing in any other bike of its class ... Regarding looks , ppl say simple looks ... I say Simple , decent and stylish looks ...
As one of our frd said, when u r looking for a pick up in a 2 stroke engine, one should not think abt the mileage ... but still I feel 35 - 40 Kms/lt is not at all bad ... The only draw back of this bike when compared to present bikes is 6 Volts Battery . Ofcourse as every one knew, we can change it to 12V by spending few bucks on it ... Thats the only change I did to this bike .... I still suggest ppl to buy RX 100 (second hand) if they need peace of mind ... Dont u agree with me guys ?? Cheersssssss
