1991, that is the year in which my father got hes rx100, it is till running till this date. I am 17 and I have ridden this bike many times when I visit my village.
Do we really need all these new fancy looking bikes when we can just buy a second hand rx100 for half the price. manufacturers try to win over customers hearts by claiming to have come up with a new model when the new model only differs by having a different hedlamp and maybe be a new sticker. dont get sucked in, check the specfications carefully befoe considering a new bike.
observations I have made:
>It is immensely powerful, my model can do 110 km/h with three teenagers riding on it. (although it takes its time getting there) Having a weight of around 110 kg, 12.5 bhp is adequate for any purpose.(riding through sand, mud or carrying heavy loads)
>Its parts are very durable and long-lasting. Mine still has the original transmission, tank, seat but the engine has been renewed once due to mistreatment of the bike.(riding without Mobil oil for a long period of time)
>the seat and tank is too wide (for me anyway), it can give you thigh cramps on long rides. New bikes have tanks which are curved in and thinner seats, this helps on long rides.
>It is tough. This particular model has been crashed so many times, it has had an accident at 120 km/s, has had a camel cart run over it, to name a few accidents. The bike is not fragile, at most you “might” get a dent on the tank, or headlight will break. if you plan on crashing at 120 km/h the gear lever could get stuck, my dad crashed it at this speed and had his elbow smashed. Apart from that you can pick up your bike and continue on your journey after a nasty fall, considering you havent injured yourself. The most fragile part by far are the rear indicators which can even break in minor accidents.
>I would recommend this bike to anyone who needs a quick, reliable and tough bike for short commutes, since mileage is an issue. And also this is a fantastic first bike for youngsters like myself. You will get a second hand one for only 15, 000 and you can challenge a CBZ to a race!!! Its that fast!
at only half the price of a CBZ...
okay, if you want to have fun with this bike, try this-
Go out onto an open road with noone in front of you. bring the bike to a standstill and put it in first gear. as you release the clutch twist the accelerator to maximum. it wont work if you accelerate after letting the clutch go, do it simultanoesly. let the bike rev to highest it can possibly rev, itll make a hellva lot of noise. change gears from there on and let it rev to as far as can go on each gear. itll fly, its really fun. you wont ride anything else again!
