Yamaha may have had been a tremendous record with its performance oriented motorcycles like the RX and FZ ranges as well as the mini-Rs, the R15 and the R3, in the Indian two wheeler market. But when it comes to the commuter categories, the Japanese manufacturer is yet to strike the cord. While the likes Libero, YBRs and Gladiators were quite brilliant products in their respective segments, they failed to generate sales numbers like their rivals from Hero, TVS and Bajaj, owing to customer perception of Yamaha’s negligence in the lower end of the segment.
It seems that Yamaha has learnt from the mistakes of the past, which is why it has discontinued all of its previous generation offerings to make way for the all new motorcycles, with built-from-scratch engines and platforms. Yamaha kickstarted this all new campaign with the versions of the 125cc Saluto, which till now has received a rather lukewarm response. To keep things going, Yamaha has now launched an all new 110cc motorcycle, the Saluto RX.
With the Saluto RX, Yamaha wants to cash on the emotional appeal of the ‘RX’ nameplate from the yesteryears, while at the same time, preview us its plans for the 110cc brigade. Here’s our comprehensive review of the all new Yamaha Saluto RX.
