I earlier had a splendor. Drove it for almost 9 years without any issue. Got good resale of Rs 21000. Even after 9 years was getting mileage of 50 KM per liter, even when driven rashly at 70 KM per Hr. Then I bought this bike Yamaha SZR on Apr 2012. Almost a year and still no respite from poor mileage. Reviews mentioned as 50 Km/ltr.
So calculated that it would be better than Honda Unicorn, as difference of Rs10K in purchase price will make this bike economical, even if mileage is 45 KM/Ltr. However, mileage is only 40 KM/ltr, and also need to drive sensibly at 50 Km/hr to achieve this mileage. A little rash accelerate and thats all mileage drops like anything. So doesnt make any sense.
Instead take a 125cc bike like Shine and drive rashly, and still you will land economical, though a power little less. But doesnt make any difference in city driving. Also recently got a problem in Engine, which cost a whopping Rs. 6000.
Unfortunately had a missed a free service, just because I delayed by a week in turning to the service center. Also delayed in paid servicing, so missed the warranty.
