I’m from the Philippines and I’ve just bought my sz-r last February 18, 2013... i’ve put 10 liters of gas in it... now it runs around 254 kms and a little of gas is left in the tank... on my estimate the mileage is on 30-35 km/liter running on 40-45 km/h... comfort, handling, control and road grip are very good... my only concern is the mileage... hope it would change after its first service... for its class, this bike ranked with flying coluors... considering you bought a bike worth like a mio scooter, its a best buy... I’m satisfied and proud of my SZ-R... during night, my problem is the headlight, it has a poor lighting and without a switch to turn it off in daylight... having a passenger is easy and still comfortable and runs smoothly without a hassle... having added weight in my experience makes the bike much stable... my friend who also have a sz-r told me to change my tire into a low profile to enhance road grip and stability on it and also to fit my height (i’m only 5’4") hehehe... the silver fairings are to be painted flat black to enhance its look and to put fz accessories on it... I will attach the photos of my bike after the project... hehehe...
Last February 23, 2013 had its first service after attaining its first 500 kms. all necessary maintenance check and adjustments has been made. after its service, the engine sounds like its brand new. again I put 10 liters of fuel in it, and now its February 26, 2013 and now my bike is running around at 811 kms since I bought it, I think the mileage increased a bit... hope until I finished the break-in the mileage will again improve... I now also put a on/off switch for the headlight... hehehe... more updates to come... :)
It’s March 06, 2013 and my bike is now running around 1895 kms. nearing its second service. I make my bike run at 80 kph max on a highway run and my bike’s fuel consumption or mileage is about 35-40 km/liter. As I observe, the engine runs smoothly on 80 kmh, this definitely a touring bike not for speed lovers. The 5th gear has no thrill on it. I’ve now painted the silver fairing with flat black and its awesome. Now my bike has a different look than the other sz-r in our town.
It’s March 11, 2013 and my bike had its second service, no problem at all. I’ve removed the chain guard for more masculine look and to be replaced by a new FZ chain guard... iIve already ordered it from the Yamaha 3s shop.
