Why do you think that some music composer would remark in such a way? We have plentiful of music composers around the world. Not all of them quote such statement. There may be many nuggets in the world. But what stands out is Diamond. Similarly there are too many composers having great and in depth knowledge of music. But the one who stands apart, shining in ecstatic brilliance radiating out the rays of light in the form of his fragile music is Yanni.
It is my greatest privilege to be able to even remark about such a coruscating personality. The great Yanni glimmered on this earth on November 14 1954 at kalamata, Greece. During his college days he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minisotta. One fact that governs his brilliance in music is that he doesn’t know how to read or write music. Being a gifted talent, he makes his own notes in special shorthand. He was a keyboardist for a Minneapolis- based band called Chameleon.
It is a remarkable event in my life to be able to write about him considering the fact that I bought the album when I was 12 years old.I couldn’t understand the eternal sense of the music he created when I was a child. But as I grew I could realize and experience the essence of emotions he served through his music. All I can do is praise him and I’m too small a chap to be able to remark about the music sense he perceives in his mind. Today I would just like to shower the rain of praises for this is the least I can do, although I would talk about the master piece that moved me and continues to do so each time I listen to it.
Not only his music is heavenly, but also the title of his music tracks impart such deep meaning. Even calling his music pieces as music tracks render the magnum opus a derogatory feeling. Such is his music. No not music, his is not music. What we call music is his way of expressing his emotions and quoting him ’’ As I understand life at different levels, I can use music to express what these levels feel like to me. Hopefully the listener can be transported to this understanding by listening to this music.’’
Yanni’s album was always a guiding light for me. It was like he stood besides me through the night and day. It was like a light shining in my heart that caused me to do the right things. The moment my mind hovers and digresses from the right path, his music was there to sail me back to the shore. ’’until the last moment’’ was a masterpiece that moved me so much. The rapture and the tenderness are the innate qualities of this song. It can be really felt in your heart once you close your eyes. Such a depth of music is not found easily in any composer.
For me it is visualized as a man who is fighting for his life and knows that he has to go later or sooner to answer HIM above this ghastly network of emotions and hatred in the world. We all are entangled deeply and hazardously into the swamp of Life. We are forgetting our main aim of living the gift given to us by the Almighty. We all are digressed. We encounter so many hardships and happiness in our lives. But we fight along overcoming every hurdles and strive hard to make our ends meet. We fight when we are young, We fight when grow old We fight on the deathbed. We know it’s coming (death). We lose our strength. But we fight…we fight until the last moment.
Another magnum opus of the album that has enlightened me is one man’s dream. close your eyes. Go into deep sleep. Let nothing touch you. Let nothing hinder your dreams. You see the light coming out of a source. Feel the aura around you. You are here. Yes! You can’t believe it. You are where you wanted yourself to be. You are where you were yearning to come. You can fly here. Spread your wings at full length. Feel it! Feel the breath of fresh air going across your body purifying you. You are here and you wouldn’t leave this place. Oh! No. What is this happening? I can’t understand! Where am I? Why is everyone around me?---friend, you are back on this earth. You are here to crawl and be a part of pleasure and pain.-------this is what exactly happened to me when I first felt the song in my heart.
And lastly the song which had me in tremulous state is reflections of passion Just take a look into the meaning conveyed in the title. reflection of passion --- We all are passionate about something or other. We continue to work hard to achieve what we want. Life starts when you are born on this earth. Everyone around you is looking at you, smiling at you. You are the one who brought happiness in many people lives just by coming on the earth. You are the passion. Slowly you start growing and you try to swim across the dense water of life where sharks in the form of pain and pleasure are streamlining fast to eat you up. But you continue to protect yourself from such jeopardy and swim faster to achieve your passion. Oh! God you say! Where have I reached? This is the end of tunnel. No way ahead. You are still here on the deathbed. Your passion is standing around you in the form of sons, daughters and family. They all are crying and you smile and pass away…….you create the ripples in the reflection of water you started your life in. Life goes on…
I don’t have anything more to say. If you haven’t got this music yet. You are missing the greatest benefactor of your life that could drive you away from the dirty matrix of life and make you feel pure, Even though for a second and you’d experience evanescence into Heaven.

It is my intentions to share my emotions with the listener but I also want to allow the listener to take this music and make this their own.
