Legendary Yezdi

It was made under the license from Jawa( Czech) and was named Yezdi by the Irani family who introduced us to the these legendary machines. It is basically the Jawa 250cc 353 type engine with little change in design. It enjoys a unique status in the Indian motorcycling history. Those were the times when there were only three options available to a common man i.e. Rajdoot 175, Enfield Bullet, Yezdi. The bullet was considered as a heavy bike with a complex engine, the rajdoot was too uncool for the youngsters back then.Yezdi was a unique product which enjoyed the success till the japanese invasion in India introducing their 100cc motorcylcles tuned towards fuel economy. This led to decline in the sales of other heavy displacement engines because they were not very fuel efficient. As the strict pollution norms were enforced by the goverment , it became hard for the two strokes bike to survive in the market. In the year 1996, the production was stopped and the company shut down due to many reasons. The yezdi still remains a special bike as it has very differnent stance than the conventional bikes. The gearing system is tall that means that it could reach higher speed in low gears. The engine was low revving high torque engine which was fun to criuse for hours on the highway. The wheels were 16". The only problem of the bike was the consumption of the fuel. The bike has a super sweet thump. These bike were smoking barrels. The Hardcore fans are trying to unite eachother by founding yezdi clubs around india and travelling for road trips thus keeping the legend alive.
