You Are Here is a debut novel by Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan. It’s set in present-day Delhi and delves deep into the psyche and lifestyle of a girl called Arshi who lives with a flatmate called Topsy. Arshi is a typical twenty five year old who loves dating, clubbing, and coming to terms with her sexuality. She hates working under the bad boss in her PR firm but you need to pay the bills right?
Her dad is divorced and has remarried an American woman who she hardly meets.
At times, Arshi shacks up with her mom.
The tale takes one on a bitter-sweet journey and showcases the lifestyle of today’s woman, her needs, desires, hates and likes.
It is written caustically and flawlessly and is a great book to curl up with. Meenakshi’s flair and grip on the narrative is notches above the usual chick-lit authors.
And if you are not here and not reading this book, you are definitely missing something.
