I know downloading music is illegal, I know it is even unethical. But let’s admit it guys – downloading music is hot! And which one of us wouldn’t make a go for a great music download site if they happen to find one?
So here it is for all you music download buffs out there – enter yourmp3.net. It is one of the most useful music download sites I’ve visited (and count on my word, till date I’ve visited hundreds of them).
Yourmp3.net belongs to that genre of websites which don’t store music on their own servers but redirects the visitor to other sites where the original songs are stored (guess it helps somewhere in the legal procedure), but nevertheless you’re almost sure to find the song you need from their huge database. The stocks are updated every week with the latest hits in the international music scene, and most of the links work fine, as in the Yourmp3 language.
Where the site really scores is that it offers interactive facilities for all its visitors (this doesn’t mean members, but I’m coming to that). If your required song isnt featured in their database, you can leave a request along with your email id – they’ll inform you as soon as they get the song. You can also judge a song link between working fine, server is slow, broken (file not found), password-protected (without any given password that is), given password is incorrect, contains the wrong song, song is cut, song is of unknown format that cannot open etc. after you’ve finished downloading (or not downloading) your song. (I’d personally request all visitors to perform this function – please help the next downloader by giving them the right information about the link. It takes only a few seconds!) This information is shown beside the song link, and can be extremely helpful for at least those using dial-up connection (take me, for instance), so that after almost 30 minutes wasted in downloading they don’t turn up with the wrong song, or worse a password-protected file!
The homepage (and the whole site too) is designed on a lilac background with startling green letters and the not-so-well-arranged links look painfully like the work of an amateurish page designer, but once you get over the look, youre going to find the site pretty useful.
One most frustrating thing about the site is that you cannot become a member. The free registration page appears almost every time you try to download any song and although it promises you have to go through this ordeal ONLY ONCE (yeah in all caps), I’ve been faced with this page 28 times (you guessed it, that’s the number of songs I’ve downloaded)
And yeah I must admit some of the links do go wrong (I havent been yet able to download one single Bon Jovi song), but then which site has all links correct?
Overall, it’s a site worth a try! Whaddya think guyz?
PS I’d love to read your comments (I always do), but please visit the site before you write anything (website reviews are the only things you can immediately verify with the original product, arent they?)
PS 2Please don’t go all at a time and block the site for this poor dial-upper, that’s a request.
Happy surfing and happy downloading (hey somebody call the cops!) ……
