For, Amitabh Bachchan, the star of the millenium, it was first box office hit after a series
of flops. He got Zanzeer after it was refused by so many big stars like Dharmendra, Devanand, Rajkumar etc. But Salim Javed insisted on Amitabh after they had seen
his performance in Saat Hindustani. They recommended him to Prakash Mehra. And after that it was a dream run for Amitabh. The role of angry young man was so nicely portrayed by Amit ji that it was replicated by so many other stars later on. One reason of this fantastic protrayal could be the anger that he could have been going thru in real life after struggling for so many years in the industry. Although it is remembered as Amitabh movie but the
roles of Ajit, Pran and Jaya ji were equally powerful and worth remembering. Overall an
