Will and Grace revolves around its two central protagnists. Will is a gay 28 year old who lives with his best friend Grace- a dysfunctional, nuerotic New Yorker in her late twenties as well. The sitcom takes a lighthearted stance at thier escapades along with their two friends Jack (a flamboyant and loud in your face gay) and Karen (a cynical hard nosed woman who has married numerous wealthy men).
Will and Grace has everything a sitcom needs. An attractive and spontaneous cast (including the emmy award winning Debra Messing), generous doses witty one-liners, some hilarious situations and lively charectors (My personal favorite is that of Karens but Jacll is a major exception). Will and Grace deviates from your standard friends clones is its take on homosexuality. It takes a very lighthearted and laidback stance to it in a’’big deal, whats new’’ sort of a way.
It is for this reason that the sitcom is most appealing, although many Indian viewers who are still coming to terms with the whole concept of Homosexuality may find its laidback and humerous take on it a bit indigestible.
Overall...it is a great way to spend half an hour....
Cons: Some of the situations and dialogues may make even the most staunch Indian urban meterosexual cringe at times. And Jack’s charector has a knack of going overboard which may be a little annoying.
However by and large Will and Grace is a worthwhile addition to your ’’must sees’’ in the week. Watch it instead of a repeat of friends.
