I conduct surveys of my customers and for that I have used a variety of online survey tools. I have not had the best of experiences on Zoomerang.
Zoomerang has its useful features. But for the most part, I find it a ’’toy’’ - not a tool for serious researchers/survey administrators.
It is good to do quick informal fun stuff like surveying your friends about weekend plans. I wouldn’t use it for anything related to business - it does not have the professional look to it that I would like to see, nor does it have the comprehensiveness at the back end that I need as a business user. In a way it is what you get for its low cost. However, if low-end is where you need to be, there are even cheaper solutions - and I have used many of them. Zoomerang gets high grades for marketing, low grades for attention to product detail.
There are products at both lower end - and cheaper than Zoomerang, and higher-end, with a lot more to offer in terms of details to question types, reports, support, training, etc. Zoomerang is in an interesting space, low quality, high price.
Slow performance, inability to scale if you need to need to survey a lot of people, analytics are very basic, not useful for my needs. While loading a large data file, the application hung and took me 2 days to retrieve only parts of it.
Also, I wonder about the value of their Zoom panels. I suspect a lot of the members on the panel are people who sign up for free accounts and I don’t think most people give their accurate information for those panels. I get a ton of emails on my junk email accounts and occasionally I even humor them by taking those surveys. I don’t think I am the only person who is tempted to submit data in those surveys but the data entered is all random and represents nothing close to reality. I feel sorry for the folks who pay big bucks for that feedback (evil grin).
