It was my wifes birthday on 7th Aug and I decided to plan a day full of surprises for her.
As a part of the surprises - I made a collage of her various photographs, capturing her in various moods and poses, during our 7 years of togetherness. Being not very proficient in Google picassa, it took me 3 hours to make a decent collage (that too at night, after my wife had slept - since this was meant to be a surprise)
I was wondeing - in what form to gift her the collage, when one of my colleagues recommended - zoomin.com. A site where you can get your pics printed on t-shirts, calenders, mugs, keychains etc or just plain printouts.
I registered on the site and after going through the options decided to get the collage that I had made printed on a coffee mug. while the cost was not exactly reasonable, still I went ahead and ordered. well in time.. one week before her birthday, when the exptd time of delivery is 4 days.
I got a message that the mug will be delivered on 5th, two days before her birthday. Well I was pleased and thrilled.
Suddenly on 4th of August ( one day before the exptd day of delivery), late in the evening, I get mail from them informing me that my order is getting cancelled beacuse the images would not have come properly.
I did not know how to react.. it took them 5 days to tell me this that too one day before the day I am supposed to get it. Suddenly I saw my plan getting haywire and did not know what to do, as this was something that I had thought long time back and was really looking forward to it.
In their mail they offered me one free mug, valid till 31st aug (what was free in that I did not understand - since I had already paid for one mug). There was no mention of any other option of a refund. I immediately wrote a nasty mail to them, asking for refund. In the meanwhile, I just took jpeg of the collage to a nearby photo studio, who nicely printed it for me and framed it for me.
When I did not get a reply from them fo two days, I started sending them reminders. Finally after 3rd reminder, I got a confirmation about my refund. Then I wrote to them asking them to deactivate my id from their site. It again took three reminders for this to happen. the reason that they gave .. we were busy with rakhi orders. I have decided - this was my first and last experience with them. probably my case was an isolated one, but for me its over and out. btw - my wifes birthday went on as planned and she loved the collage.
