A wake-up call
THE riots pertaining to fuel and food prices in various parts of Africa ; India & Bangla desh are a wake-up call to the world community. What is the point in
wasting money by sending people into space or promoting fashion brands or building sophisticated weapons of war and destruction if we cannot even provide a square meal at an affordable price to 6 billion people around the world?
Prices of food products and grains have increased by 20 to 100 per cent in the last six months. Yet no world leader or organisation has focused on this subject. This is due to the fact that the tables of the rich and the powerful continue to be laden with fine caviar and wines while it is the poor in the villages and slums who are going hungry.
