Common Admission Test - popularly known as CAT, is one of the toughest management entrance examinations in India, conducted by the elite Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to 2-year full time Post Graduate Programs in Management. Apart from IIMs, there are other premier B-Schools in the country accepting CAT scores for admission to their respective management programs.


CAT is an aptitude test which examines a student’s managerial skills through questions based on Maths and English. The level of questions is generally of 10th or 11th standard which include areas viz. Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Ability.


CAT is usually held on the third Sunday of November every year for which the notification is published during the second week of July. For the year 2008, CAT entrance has been scheduled to be held on November 16.


Eligibility



The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50 % marks or equivalent CGPA (45 % for candidates belonging to SC/ST or persons with Disability category) from a recognized university.
