Dear Sir,


I dont know whether this letter of mines shall ever be read, but I still wanted to write this letter.


I am Rohit Gupta from a very remote place of INDIA, computer engineer by education and banker by profession working with a Fortune 500 bank in India.


Here in India, when we purchase any high end good/ device the whole family is involved with it and it is like a celebration, which I felt when I bought the iPhone 4.I have been born and brought up in a very medium and avergae family and I had saved the money to buy the iPhone after a lot of hardship.In India there are a few service centres, even then I bought the phone as I read through Mr.Jobs biography that Apple care are masterpieces and never get faulty, and even if they do, Apple takes good care of its customers.


I was an ardant fan of Apple products and over years wished to purchase one.So after 4 long years of waiting and saving every single penny of my life I purchased an iPhone 4 (16 GB ) from Mumbai in December 2011. As I menitoned , I am posted at a very remote place of india, I was not aware of the Apple authorised resellers and hence bought the phone from a local shop in completely sealed packed condition with Bill with all taxes paid due to the law of the land.


I want to make it clear here , that this is how consumer/electronic goods are purchased in India and also the phone is too costly in iNdia at INR 35,000.00.


Meanwhile after 6 months of usage the proximity sensor of the phone started givivng problems, which should not have happened given the quality of products APPLE manufactures.When I took the phone after speaking to the local Apple Care , to the authorized service centre, I was told the phone had lost its warranty as it has been tampered with, whereas I still had the warranty coverage as well as the extended Apple care agreement.


I was amazed to hear this from the service personnel who took and opened the phone without me being present there and I am not aware waht conspired inside the service room.


There after I complained the same to Apple Care and they have today advised me that the phone is a DEMO phone , which was sold to me by the seller hee in Mumbai, India.I am aghast to here this as I as a customer can never know this as neither the box had a DEMO logo/seal and neither the apple self solve iste where I registered and activated the phone ever prompted me regarding this.Also, I was neither appraised of the same when I registered my phone for Apple care agreement , which was purchased from the authorised reseller.


Overall, I am at the loosing end after spending my entire life's savings to purchase my dream phone , the product I always wished to buy.The phone is brick now and I have nowhere to go.As a customer , I was never told of the same, and also I could have never come to know of this had the phone been in running/okay state.


Now I look upon you to help me with this problem, as I genuinely paid all the taxes of the land and purchased the Apple Care agreement to take care of my dream phone.I am being told that Apple doesnt over DEMO phones under warranty, and I feel helpless now, with nowhere to go.


I am suffering for no fault of mine as Apple never ever through any means advised me that the phone is aDEMO phone, when ever I spoke with Apple Care for any issues or clarifications.Also the shop that sold me the phone is not responding.


Even though I might have bought the the phone not from an authorized seller , yet I am a customer of yours since I bought the phone with utmost faith and love. I had no malafice in my heart and mind , and as I said the day was a celebration in our family and the greatest day of my life.


You manufacture and sell millions and billions of phone every year and earn billions of dollars , but my humble and sinciere request is that you look into the matter personally and emotionally and help me with this, which shall not cost you much.


I dont know whether this plea of mines will ever rach you, but I promise that this gesture of yours would result in 1 more faithful fan of yours for life, and set an example in India, as to how Apple takes care of its customers and more importantly builds relationships.
