I have always been a hardcore fan of A.R. Rahman. Starting from Roja, until Ghajini, I have been there as an enthusiastic. I was always proud to say that I am up-to-date with his releases, which include all his non-film albums as well. However, lately I feel as if the King is not living up to his glory. Over the couple of years he has been churning out numbers that could hurt his past reputation.
In the last decade almost 99% of his albums had all the songs that are amazing in one way or the other. His rhythm programming skills and the sound selections were impeccable, but nowadays his we can hardly get to hear a good rhythm pattern from Rahman. He was the synonym of futuristic music, but right now it sounds as though his rhythms are outdated!!! and it hurts me quite a bit.
I don't know if somebody related to his band or studio will get this message to him and I dont care in fact. I dont care if he cares to listen to his earlier milestones in music and regain the kind of inspiration that worked wonders in his old studio Panchathan Record Inn. I dont care if he calls up Ranji Barrot and says "hai buddy, remember we did the great stuff for Humma Humma in Bombay; lets do that again"; but if he does so it's gonna rain some good songs for the present and future generation. The present generation and the future will be enriched. I dont care if he ever realizes how badly it hurts for a fan who waits long and long and long and gets to hear something that is disappointing, because at the end of the day I have my own problems to worry about and I move on.
I have been listening to this guy since almost 17 years now and I know how good he is, and now I know how bad he can turn. I have been listening to his old tamil songs more frequetly lately and I can see how he stood out, how mighty his talent stood out. I only wish I could get that amazing feeling listening to the songs like Ajooba from Jeans or the entire collection of Roja or the songs and background score of Swadesh recreated once more. I wish I can hear A. R. Rahman once again like I know him. I wish he is back.
This is my opinion. I personally feal that A. R. Rahman is just not using his the magic wand. Some of his latest songs emphasize the fact that it is just the shadow of his majic wand that is causing it.
Hallo......anybody there.....if someone at K.M Music or K.M. Music Conservatory is reading this....please inform the king that he get back to his THRONE right now!!!!!
