Do you remember the recent new of Janardhan reddy splurging 500 crores for his daughter's wedding?
I was deeply saddened on reading that such a humungous amount was spent just for a wedding. Hearing the news, All I could think about were the poor and deprived sections of our society. Don't you think spending such an exorbitant amount was unnecessary?
I strongly feel that the money could have been put to better use but big fat Indian wedding seem to have the norm of the society
What's hard to digest is that people are of the opinion that having a big fat Indian wedding is the only way to make it a memorable occasion. However today, I came across a wedding news, one which inspired the human in me to make a promise to myself.
Instead of taking the famous route of making extravagant expenses during his daughter's wedding, an Aurangabad-based businessman named Ajay Munot donated 90 houses to the homeless. While he had planned to spend Rs. 70-80 lakhs in the wedding, a sudden change in heart made him take this philanthropic step
Using the money he was supposed to splurge in the wedding, he bought two acres of land and constructed 90 houses over it. He even took it upon himself to select the eligible candidates who should be gifted a house. He selected people with poor financial background residing in slums and also saw to it that they were free from any form of addiction.
It was a proud moment for his daughter and she fully supported his father's kind act by saying "I am very happy with the decision and will consider it as my marriage gift"
We need more of such humane father-daughter duos, don't we?
Coming back to the promise I made, I have decided to contribute to the weaker sections of our society in whatever way I can during my marriage. I hope this news inspires the whole of India to this pledge
