How many of us refrain from travelling via Blue line in Delhi?
I think, every single individual and majority of them consists of the female population who are helpless when it comes to public transport.
It's not only for Women, even men are afraid of travelling in this unsecure banging box on four wheels.
One of my colleague was travelling from Gurteg Bahadur Nagar to Saraswati Vihar in Menance on wheels, synynom of Blue line.Asusual the buses are jam packed and gentry is quite expected under these circumstanes.
It took him to surprise when he found that five- eight men covered him from all sides. One of them got his attention and god knows which one took away his mobile in broad daylight in the running bus.He got hold of one of the culprits and told bus driver to stop the bus.
What do you think can be his reaction??
NO!! He didnot stop the bus, instead he said " I dont have time for this"
What can you make out of this?
If I have a common sense, then all these mobile thieves and drivers/conductors work hand in glove with each other.
The only reason why I am sure is that the same incident happened with me three years back when I was in a bus near Lal Qila.
Anyways, lets get back to the story. This guy gave them a tough fight but one Vs seven is not at all fair from any end after all we are not super humans. One of them hit him at the back with some weapon which he is not sure of and eloped with in seconds.
Now Here is my question:
What were 40 people doing inside the bus when this happened?
Where was the police?
Why didn't the driver stop?
Who gives them courage to do this in broad day light?
The only answer to this is "We".
We are responsible for this.
We are WEAK because we chose to be WEAK.
The day is not far when these people will spit on our faces and we will not be able to do anything other than sulk.
We dont raise a voice till the time it hurts ours. This is not the story about one guy.
There are thousands of women who have to face eve teasing everyday and they are conditioned because when you cannot avoid , then you have to start getting used to it.
Next time, it can be you, your daughter or may be your wife.Raise voice for people who are tortured and humiliated everyday.
I know that's too much to expect from us as we have become dead from inside. But still, we all have a HERO inside us who needs to be awaken.
Be a HERO, help your or somebody's loved ones.
Tommorow it might be you.
