I read an article on Time today about some senator in the US suggesting legislation around limiting speed of cars to 55 miles per hour in America.

The other day I was forwarded a video of Vice President Al Gore on https://www.wecansolveit.org.
And when I see and hear all the efforts that the West is putting into community awareness and actions to ease the pressure on Mother Earth, I wonder whether India's contribution is limited to just Dr. Pachauri and others from the research comunity.
I wish for all our sakes and for the generations to come that we all act together and share ideas and actions that we are taking as individuals or as a conscious community in our endeavour to stand up to the challenge of climate change or global warming.
I could go ahead and paste some nice exerpts from various speakers and leaders here, but instead like the way all of you know me, love to take take the bull by its horns.
So here are a few simple things that I am doing, which I hope will get contagious.
Don't take natural resources for granted, even if today you can afford to aquire them for a few bucks. e.g. water, air, fuel, energy
Consider car pools without an iota of being shy about what will the world say regarding I can't afford to drive to work
For those of you with four wheels, try a bike or a scootie instead. Don't forget that helmet though
Someone here on mouth shut mentioned about cycling to work in Mumbai as a solution to traffic jams, which is definitely an energy saver as well
Take the ffort to ACTUALLY replace your energy guzzling bulbs with CFLs. (Ek din jaldi, saare ghar ke badal dalo) and donate your existing bulbs to someone at a traffic signal maybe.
Consider Public Transport .. its not actually all that bad. If after being in Mumbai for 8 years and NEVER taking Public Transport, I have taken to trains and buses, come on friends you could at least do it once a week
Start a Green Club at your work place or college or even kitty party group
Plant a tree, it does not take all that much...seriously
Never snub anyone who is making an effort, encourage them
RECYCE PLASTIC and when you get the slightest opportunity, say NO to Plastic
Spread the word among kids in particular....
