At last Gautam Gambhir has been given 1 test match ban for elbowing Shane Watson. I think the ban is justified on Gambhir, cricket is game of gentlemen, where the willow and bat should do the talking.
If players start getting physical, we can see hooliganism and players being badly injured or even being killed. This happens nowerdays will gully and local cricket, wherein umpire is killed by stumps or bats being used as clobbering items. There are increased usage of violence in cricket when it comes to unofficial cricket in the name of betting or even under false prestige of the teams competing.
The ICC policy is very clear on cricket, that it is not a physical game, where players can get into fist fights, elbowing, and slapping. In that context Bhajji should have banned for life for slapping his own team mate. I don t know why BCCI has taken a lenient view on Bhajji. He is a perfect example of taking the cricket to hooliganism level. There has been earlier example of indiscipline which has been firmly dealt with by BCCI.
Cricketers at the highest form should be exemplary in their behaviour. There is tremendous change in the attitude of Aussies who have now become pussy cats in the current tour. They very realise that India can become their bread and butter destination. The remuneration is very low down under. In fact they advanced their tour to India to finalise their modelling contracts, media committments, and future plans in India. I wont be surprised if some Aussies settle for Indian girls for their marriage. I believe Brett Lee is divorced and looking around. Similarly Shane Warne and may other Aussies are single. Even Macgrath is now single because of his wife's expiry.
So it is better to welcome Aussies and mellow them down, if they want to endorse the Indian way of life. So let us say hurray to mellowed down Ozzies.
