SRK IS NOT GUILTY!
Last week, along with Shiney Ahuja, there were two more people from Bollywood who were there in the news for all the wrong reasons-Shahrukh Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker. Let’s talk about SRK this week. A FIR was filed against him last Thursday in Mumbai by Khalid Babu Qureshi, President of the All India Jamiatul Quresh. Mr Khalid took this step against the superstar for hurting the religious sentiments after he called Prophet Mohammed a negative personality in an interview given to Time N Style Magazine. There were reports of SRK’s effigies being beaten with chappals at Bhopal and some other place too.
In the interview, the question thrown to Shahrukh was “According to you, who is the most impressive figure in History?” To which SRK replied, “There are lots of them, some negative ones like Hitler. Then Napoleon and Winston Churchill were impressive. If I can call it history, then the most impressive positive figure is Prophet Mohammed. And from recent times, there are nice ones like Nelson Mandela, Gandhiji andMother Teresa.” But the magazine published it as “There are lots of them, some negative ones like Hitler, Napoleon, Winston Churchill and if I can call it history, then Prophet Mohammed and from recent time Nelson Mandela. And there are nice ones like Gandhiji and Mother Teresa”!
Just imagine how, in order to save some space, the editor or whoever in-charge create a major blunder! I wonder how the magazine allowed anything like to happen in the first place. And later, they are publishing a corrigendum that SRK has been misquoted because of an ‘editing error’ and the error is deeply regretted. But the damage is already done.
I also fail to understand Mr Khalid’s action. It is obvious that SRK is not a fool to say something controversial or something which can hurt religious sentiments in an interview. With great power comes great responsibility and SRK knows this very well. He thinks thousand times before opening his mouth on such issues. Also, he has always been a staunch Muslim and has never made any such hurtful statements before. So, although Mr Khalid did the right thing by filing a FIR against the publication, dragging SRK in the picture is completely unjustified.
Time and again it is proved that celebrities are soft targets. Two months ago, someone claiming to be a social worker complained to the police about Akshay Kumar for his ‘unbuttoning’ act and this time, the ‘bakra’ is SRK. It is unfortunate that such controversies always crop up. And then people say the celebrity himself aroused this controversy so that his upcoming film gets publicity! Very unfortunate!

UPCOMING FILM INSPIRED BY SHINEY AHUJA CASE?
Any popular controversy is sooner or later made into a film. But no one knew thatwithin just 10 days of Shiney Ahuja Case, someone would announce a film on it! Kanti Shah, the king of C-grade films who has produced many films with funky titles has announced a film called Rape. Shah claims that the film is inspired by this infamous case. The film will star two newcomers and Shah feels they would be superstars of tomorrow! He is also happy to say that the film has twosuper-duper item numbers! I wonder why a film, based on Shiney’s case needs an item number and that too not one, but two!
It is astonishing that the makers even quickly wrote the script, got hold of suitable actors and even released a poster of the film. I didn’t post the poster here as it’s very indecent. Those interested can check it out here: https://bollywoodhungama.com/features/2009/06/22/5255/index.html
