WILL DHURANDHAR MANAGE TO EXCEL DESPITE THE UNDERWHELMING OPENING?

One of the biggest films of 2025, Dhurandhar, is all set to release in cinemas, tomorrow, December 5. The film generated tremendous excitement for its teaser, which was unveiled on lead actor Ranveer Singh’s birthday, on July 6. The moviegoers were bowled over by the title track, the way the teaser was cut, mass appeal and the casting. Besides Ranveer, it also stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun.

The trailer was unveiled last month and it got a mixed response. While some loved it a lot, a major section of the audience had reservations with the treatment of the trailer and the extremely violent content. This has been a major factor as to why the advance booking isn’t as per expectations.

After the teaser was out, there were hopes that Dhurandhar would have an opening of Rs. 30-40 crores. But now, an opening of Rs. 20 crores is also not confirmed. The advance trends suggest that it would open at around Rs. 18 crores. However, once word of mouth spreads and if it's in the favour of the film, there will be a huge jump in footfalls from Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday would also be quite strong.

If the reports are positive, the film has the potential to have a weekend of more than Rs. 80 crores. That would prove ideal and then the steady earnings in weekdays would further well. There’s limited competition next week, and that is also a factor that would prove beneficial.

However, if word of mouth is not positive, cracks would appear from Saturday itself and it would prove detrimental.
