North east states of India are located in North east of Himalayan belt and generally know for their beautiful surroundings, clean and green environment. I have seen in Delhi people from North East India are generally popular for their fashionable looks. Most well known personalities from North east are:-
v Mary Kom: She is an Indian boxer and five times world boxing champion. She is the only woman boxer who has won a medal in each one of the six world championships.
v Danny Denzongpa: He is a famous Bollywood actor and awarded as Padma Shree in 2003(India’s fourth highest civilian award)
v Baichung Bhutia: He is an Indian footballer and awarded as Arjuna Award and Padma Shree.
v Irom Sharmila: She is a civil rights activist and knows as Iron lady of Manipur. She is known for her hunger strike that started in November 2000 and is still going on. If I ask you what is the capital of Manipur,Nagaland,Meghalaya & Mizoram, many of you don't know…Reason.totally ignorance of north east areas by our government, electronic and print media.
It is surprising for you that these states are still suffering from deficiency of small scale industries. Now the question is in the absence even small industries how can they accomplish their needs? The answer is there are so many household items i.e. cloths & household items etc are smuggled from china, Tibet. These products are very cheap in price and quality i.e. they capture the whole North-East Indian market.
Another factor of ignorance of North-East India is that it suffers from the revolts of Naxalities from so many years. These Naxalities has become the hurdle in the growth and expansion plans. Even our government is ready to tackle the problem of Naxalities but due to their inconceivable conditions, no solution has been found so far.
Due to ignorance of Print and Electronic Media many of you are unaware that China has captured the considerable land of Arunachal Pradesh. Many of the villagers have been threaten by the Chinese soldiers to leave the village or die.
Now the time has come to awake the government and think seriously to tackle the problem otherwise it would be serious as may be in future China will encroach Arunachal Pradesh’s land which is again inconceivable for Indians. They are already showing Arunachal Pradesh in their own territory and issuing stapled visa to residents of Arunachal Pradesh, which may cause problem to us.
Moreover as soon as possible we have to promote industries that are accommodate according to their atmosphere. North East areas are also called as “Seven Sisters”. It is surrounded by hills and looked splendidly. Once who visit this areas and says, " These surroundings are gifted by God". So we can develop these areas as Tourist place. Tourism will improve the economic condition of these States.
As per my opinion our media has to take some active part by publishing news from North East areas as we are publishing news from rest of the country. Scholarship programs should be run by Schools & collages in rest of the India to bridge the gap between the north east and mainland India.
I hope PM Narendra Modi’s government will take some rapid action and take a lesson from China and start establishing infrastructure first to develop these states and also it would be a solution to stop naxal problems that we are facing from several years. We should focus on developing organic farming and herbal products too.
