Past weekend was the Memorial day long weekend. Most US holidays fall on Monday to make the weekends longer. This weekend also starts official opening of the pools. People love to drink beer and, go to pools or beaches. Water starts getting warm making it even better for beach and pool lovers.

Wolf Trap is a beautiful National Park near my house. We along with some friends decided to go to the concert held at the park followed by fire works. We decided to go there early keeping in mind how crowded it was going to be. The lines were long to get into the park. People were waiting patiently for the park to open. No rush, no push. Everybody was calm and poised,enjoying the hot sun. Enough police to regulate traffic and everybody followed directions diligently. Cars were parked in a decent order. Everybody was carrying a picnic basket, a blanket or some beach chairs to sit on, sun glasses, hats, umbrellas were everywhere to be seen.

Once the park opened, people were directed to different directions to avoid rush and chaos. Soon, everybody was settled. People were enjoying picnic with lots of food, beer and good company. Soon the band started performing. It was President's Marine band which travels to perform all around the year. It was fascination. They played wonderful music.

After an hour and half of music, people were directed to a more open area for fire works display. What a view it was! Everybody moved to the fireworks area without any hassel.

Almost 20,000 people were present. What made this event worth writing is the descipline that was seen amongest the people. There was no noise. People were talking, laughing and walking around. No body was touching or was in someone else's way. And for some reason if they were, there were apologies and smiles all the way.

This kind of attitude is what makes it The America and people The Americans. Money does not grow on trees here as conceived by people all over the world. People take their jobs seriously and take responsibility for what they do. Work gets done in a timely fashion. And when it comes to having fun, they enjoy it to the core making the occasion worth living. I salute the people who have made this country worth living and a place to envy by many.
