Gurgaon....The millennial city, the city of dreams. It's home to people from all over the country. Cosmopolitan and uber , is how I describe it. I came here as a little girl and have seen the city grow.
Today, as I travel by road and cross over from old Gurgaon to the new millennial city, there are these malls and shopping complex. Concrete jungle this city...is what I think. Money talks here. Somewhere I think people here are in pursuit of happiness. These malls, this shopping, this retail therapy...I mean is this what life holds, that's it? Materialism flows here. Gurgaon is costlier than Delhi...life is not cheap for Gurgaonites. And I come to the mall culture. I mean leaving apart the Spencers and big bazaars, do the aam junta even buy anything from these high end shops. Now, I know good life is what we all want, and wish for, but does that mean 10 malls popping out at every nook and corner? Is that even normal. Wanna go out for a leisure evening with family and friends? Get ready to burn a hole in the pocket.
On final words...Gurgaon...I salute thee...pun absolutely intended.
