MotherEarth is a noted slightly expensive brand with a reputation and a high valued philosophy- which it shattered today in my eyes because of one horrible experience.

DISCRIMINATION??? AND CONDESCENSION- I noticed a rather simple but neatly dressed frail elderly man who looked exhausted, very politely with all due courtesy and humility- 'requesting' the educated woman at the desk [in articulate fluent English] at MotherEarth today at Mantri Square whether he could sit somewhere when his family shopped in the store. The woman extremely curtly just snapped back at the soft mannered weak senior citizen- very loudly and bluntly directed and told him- '' You DON'T sit on any of the sofas, you go there and sit on the chairs ''; and pointed at the chairs with a scowl on her face; in front of all the other customers and his family members. I noticed the family walking out immediately seeing the hurt feelings of their family elder. The woman managing the store however showed no repentance or regret or realization regarding her demeanor.

IS THIS THE WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS WHO POUR OUT CASH IN THESE SHOPS?

ARE THESE ETHICS/VALUES THAT THESE BRANDS SHOWCASE?

IS THIS HOW THEY DISCRIMINATE THOSE WHO DON'T LOOK SUPER RICH AND THOSE WHO ARE SENIOR CITIZENS?

IS THIS THE WAY TO TREAT POLITE/HUMBLE SOFT PEOPLE?

WOULD PEOPLE SPEND A SINGLE RUPEE ON A BRAND WHICH INSULTS CUSTOMER'S FAMILY MEMBERS AND FAMILY ELDERS?

WHAT ARE THE LEGAL IMPLICATIONS OF PSYCHOLOGICALLY HURTING AND DISRESPECTING SENIOR CITIZENS?

These are my thoughts.

I feel sick to know this is how people see and treat the aged in our society. I feel sad to know that leading brand staff treat customers in such a demeaning way. I feel disappointed to see this happen in a brand which is supposed to stand for those very values that it shattered today. I don't want to spend thousands in a place where even my elders could also be trashed this way someday :(
