These past few days have been most draining on almost all levels of consciousness, due to the horrid event in Mumbai

A lot has already been said about it, so I shall spare readers the pain and boredom of repitition of everything... security lapses, laxity et al. Even at the best of times, post-mortems are best conducted by specialists - and none of us is one.

However, we must realise that these attackes now require a paradigm change in our collective attitudes towards just about everything. This is required in everybody, self included. My initial responses were just like everybody elses - anger, frustation etc. But I refrained from blogging or dicsussing, prefering to just ruminate about I Me Myself - and my perfomance of my own duties.

This same must apply to just about all of us - as the nation belongs to us all. Just like we have expectations, similarly we also have duties. Do we perform all of our duties - and I am not talking about voting - to the best of our abilities? I think not.

A lot has been said about security lapses.... are we not equally responsible? No - not just because we are the voters who vote the people into power.

1) Do we ever bother to report the unattended luggage during journeys?

2) Do we ever bother to report suspicious activities?

3) Do we not give bribes, thereby creating corruption?

4) Do we not care a damn for rules ourselves?

5) Do we not let the city rot around us while caring just about ourselves?

6) Have we ever tried to take on the beuraucrats and question them through ANY means?

7) Sure, we know the political class is rotten - but what have WE done about it?

8) What have WE done about corruption - have we ever refused to pay the bribe, aand opted to pay the whole fine instead?

9) How many of us actually vote after making a thinking analysis of who actually deserves it?

10) What points in the security lapses were NOT known to us beforehand?

11) AND,, what dd WE do about it????

NOTHING, That is what! It is our inaction that has led to this - not that of our government. We could have forced the biggies to act - but we did not care.

So, who is to blame?

US - The Citizens of India!

It requires a paradigm change in our attitudes towards a whole lot of things! THe sooner we change, the better.... Let this attack be at least an awakening!
