While travelling today from Chandigarh to Delhi by road, I was again reminded of 2 things. First, whenever, we buy petrol / diesel from any petrol pump, the pump attendants invariably step on the hose pipe of dispensor intentionally after switching on the pump. I feel that technically, there is something i.e. some amount of fuel goes back from hose pipe. Otherwise, why should they step on the hose pipe and risk spoiling it.

Secondly, most of the toll barriersĀ  and many of petrol pumpsĀ  issue cash memo on thermal paper. These fade away quickly in 1 or 2 months. We are required to preserve the expense records for 3-5 years for accounting purpose. How these receipts can be preserved. Further, recently, there was a case of fake toll tax receipts at Manesar toll barrier, which was busted by Haryana Police. Such fading receipts make the evasion business easier.
