Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said he is happy to see Andrew Symonds react positively to the suspension handed out to him, and acknowledge that there was scope for improvement in his life.Symonds was recently suspended from the Australian team after he missed a compulsory team meeting and instead went out fishing. He was subsequently ruled unavailable for selection by Cricket Australia (CA) for the tour of India, and had been asked to undergo rehabilitation under a psychologist.

After spending close to a couple of weeks in the wilderness, Symonds on Monday returned to action, when he practiced with Matthew Hayden at Brisbane. On Tuesday, he joined the Queensland team for practice.

Reacting to Symonds' return to cricket and his admission that there was room to change certain things in his life, the Australian skipper told AAP, "I actually think there were some really positive signs over the last couple of days with Andrew. He's actually fronted the media and admitted that there's some room for improvement in certain parts of his life."
