I am very happy with the 40 in LCD TV from Samsung (Series 5 LA40C550)

Good Picture quality. Its better if you play DVDs as compared to cable picture quality.
Sound is very clear. No need to blast.
Remote seems to be a bit slow - it has too many buttons and they are not easy to figure out.
I recommend it.
