Good Science products are not easily available in India at different parts of country. The ones that are available are more like science toys. We have so called DIY kits from iken, franedu or 4M but a kid practically just learns to assemble them. It does not give them a canvass on which a kid can draw his scientific imagination by creating his own invention.

Rural India has even poor outlook, even such toys are inaccessible.

In urban schools, robotics and aeromodeling which are actually hobbies are promoted as part of STEM education. have we got crazy?

Its been more than 20 years since we have been conducting robotics competition even in premier institutes like IITs. have you ever seen an Indian made robot or a product that uses robotics concepts which we were "supposed to" learn?

We have failed.

Its high time we should promote basic science experiments and should cultivate scientific temper with real science experiments and not with robotics and aeromodeling.
