India is a land of mysteries. There are several shrines with strange and mysterious facts. Some of them are listed below.
1) Yagnati Temple, Andhra Pradesh
Yagnati Temple is a renowned Lord Shiva temple in Kurnool district. Shivratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotees come in from all over the state to seek blessings of the deity. This temple is believed to be built in the 15th century. An amazing fact about this temple is Pushkarni, found in old temples across India. It is still a mystery from where water flows into Pushkarni from the bottom of the hills all throughout the year. The water in Pushkarni is fresh and sweet. Devotees believe that a bath in the holy Pushkarni is highly beneficial before paying tributes to Lord Shiva.
2) Somnath Temple, Gujarat
Somnath Temple is an ideal sacred place of the Hindus. It was built for the first time in the 11th century by the Solanki Rajputs. It was a target for wealth, fame and glory and was several times invaded and looted by different conquerors that came to India. It is said that Somnath Temple was destroyed 17 times before being built for the last time in 1951. Even though reconstructed, it looks like the same old one. Kartik Purnima Fair is held every year for four days.
3) Hazrat Sharfuddin Shahvilayt, Amroha
Sharfuddin Shahvilayt is a saint who travelled to India from Iran. This temple is said to have innumerable scorpions. The astonishing part is that devotees are allowed to hold the scorpions or even take them home for some period of time. In any case, the scorpions are harmless and don’t attack anyone within and outside the shrine.
4) Jwala Ji Temple, Himachal Pradesh
Jwala Ji shrine is located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and is 55kms from Dharamshala. In this shrine, there are some natural flames( jyotis) that burn constantly. The number of flames are either 7 or 9 and they are believed to be 7 divine sisters of Maa Bhagwati or 9 incarnations of Maa Durga.
5) Tatwani Temple, Himachal Pradesh
Tatwani Temple is 25kms from Dharamshala. One will be amazed to see the hot water spring in this temple. The water in this spring is warm and possesses healing properties. Devotees can also take a dip in this spring.
6) Stambheshwar Mahadev, Gujarat
This holy temple is situated 40kms from Vadodara in Kavi Kamboi of Gujarat. It is located in the Gulf of Khambhat in Arabian Sea. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is visible only during low tide hours. On days of high tide, it remains submerged.
7) Kamar Ali Darvesh Dargah, Pune
The Dargah is 17kms from Pune. It is also said that there is a 70kgs stone, which people find it easy to throw it up without any efforts. The rock also floats in air due to some force. This is still a mystery as to why and how the stone levitates.
8) Amb Sahib Gurudwara, Mohali
Amb Sahib Gurudwara is a holy place that is believed to have been visited by Shri Guru Har Rai Sahib ji, a saint. A mango tree in the lawns of this Gurudwara produces mango throughout the year is intriguing.
