I am not into blogging at all but I must admit I have a craving to really put my point across to all of you. I am a huge fan of the big looks of all suvs. I am not that greedy but I really wish I had money when I see an Audi Q7 speed past me. I wish I was bhajji when I see his hummer sometimes in Chandigarh. Maybe I am old fashioned or maybe suv is the new cool. I don't know and either way I can't help it because I don't like sedans or hatchs. I have a scorpio lx 2010 model . I love my scorp but it has its share of niggles which I honestly hate. I was untill last month planning upgrading from my scorpio to an XUV 500.But on closely following many ownership reports you can easily judge that the vehicle has lots and lots of niggles. There are certain points that are extremely irritating and time consuming. When you buy a new vehicle you don't expect the steering oil to leak , you don't expect the led to go kaput and you never even think that the stock stereo would stop working . I mean it is a new car. People are still buying the car and it is even sold in black 50000Rs atleast thats what I have seen with my own eyes.Although Mahindra has introduced a vehicle that has changed the rules again just like when Maruti launched 800 and Toyota Launched Forutner but unlike the other two the product doesn't seem to be VFM if you take into account that even after spending 14 lakhs you have to go to the workshop for small niggles every weak. The scorpio was a huge hit even with its share of niggles because it was better in terms of reliability than its competition because other than than the Safari is a much better vehicle than scorpio(my opinion). But now I think I did the right thing. Three more SUV'S (OR SEMI SUV'S) are going to be launched in this year only (i hope). The Tata Safari Storme, The renault duster and the Ford Ecosport. The Suv demand and love is growing in India day by day and we can see that in the sales of Fortuner, XUV 500 ,Safari, scorpio, Pajero , Bolero(which is the most sold suv). I hope the competiton brings Mahindra's feet back to ground and they start producing trouble free XUV'S . I hope the competition keeps the price also in check. What I have learnt from the past few months is don't flow with buzz , Don't buy the new XUV500or any other new car just because your newighbour just bought it and he is just blabing non stop about the good things and the good looks of the car. Let the product be launched and after about an year when the company sorts out all the small niggles and starts producing trouble free vehicles. The starting series of fortuners had a break problem which is now sorted so even Toyota India can make mistakes. Don't act as guinee pigs for the automotive companies. I am glad that I didn't although I still love to own an XUV 500 any day minus the niggles lol.I respect all Companies . I think Mahindra has done the whole of India proud when it launched its fleet in the US. This is just a critical view because there is a lot of scope for improvement. I hope Tata also follows in the same footsteps and the new safari storme is even a bigger hit than XUV 500, I personally love the looks of the new Tata Safari Storme , Just wish that they had kept the spare wheel the old fashioned way at the back.
