Many people asked me to plant a Tulsi in my house, honoured advisors, ranging from my parents to relatives to friends, for various reasons like religion, medicinal, ominous, health etc. So I got one pot with Tulsi in it. I tried to serve her the best of my capacity, but once I was away for few days, and it could not survive. (My main reason for not keeping a single plant, as it is very sad to see a dry plant). I tried to revive it as well, but it didn’t work. Finally I kept the empty pot on a side.

After a few days, I saw some dry sticks, straws on the mud of that pot. I realised a pair of pigeons are making their nest on it. They are the worst nest builders, they just gather the straws, never weave it. I cracked the news to my kids. They were elated. Soon we saw a shiny snow white egg. The shine was seen in my kids’ eyes. They saw how the pigeons took care of the egg. The excellent parents, the way they would sit on the egg, protect it from sunlight, rain, winds.

Kids were curious to see, what happens next, when will the egg hatch? Finally, the egg hatched and we saw a small creature, which was not exactly very beautiful but very delicate and attractive. Kids named it, keenu, cheenu, tinki, minku, and many more... We tried to disturb them as less as possible. We even kept some water and Bajra in different bowls for them. I think we were the best behaved host for that couple. Within a few days, it became very furry, we all wanted to touch it, it was too tempting, but never dared it, as we know the mother would abandon it then. Saw how it fed its little one. Before leaving for school and just as they entered back from school, the first stop would be at the pot.

One day they both came from school and shouted, I ran and saw the empty pot. Few scattered straws and feathers, with a broken shell, the remnants. Kids were upset and started crying, I just hugged them, told them it was supposed to happen. It is normal phenomenon, you should thank god, the baby was healthy, it was able to fly and will have his own world now.

At the same time I was wondering, who will hug me, when I will need one :)
