Class 12!! The excitement of stepping into a whole new world, the tight knot in the stomach on thinking about the upcoming entrance exams, the tension, the pressure of performing, the fear of being left behind, the uncertainty about the future... FAMILIAR?? Well, most of us must have gone through the same and many are yet to go through.

The first test of life brings with it a lot of anxiety. The student needs to decide which profession to take up which would then mould his/her future. The student faces 4 different groups of people. First, the parents. It is but natural for them to have high expectations from their kid to perform in the entrances. They have after all invested time and money into providing their child with all the incentives he/she might need. The second group consists of the teachers. They spend all their time into educating their students and in return all they ask for is good results in the board exams. The third group is that of the friends. This group is usually the competitive group. They might say these exams do not dictate your future but ultimately even if they are your best mates they will still compete against you for the few thousands seats in the renowned and sought-after colleges. The last and the final one is You. What do YOU want? How do you want to see yourself after 10 years? Confused? Till now it seems it is only YOU who is unsure about yourself whereas the other groups know what they want.

Well, you aren't the only one. Taking a major decision such as choosing one's career can be tricky. You might find yourself getting drawn to two or three professions at a time or it may even happen that not a single profession appeals to you. Take a breath and relax. Amidst all this hustle and bustle all you need to do is NOT THINK ABOUT THE PROFESSION YOU OUGHT TO TAKE UP. Yes, you read that right. Why choose your profession and limit yourself? By saying "I want to be a doctor" you aren't getting all focused. All you are doing is closing the gates to other professions. You can have your favourite. But that should not mean you should close down on the other viable options. God forbid, it may so happen that you did not get through the profession you wanted. Now if u don't have a back-up plan you're stuck.

Why worry about what to get into. Why not first make yourself worthy enough to get into all sorts and then make the decision of which one suits you the best. Open up the options first and then the decision would be easy. Work hard and ace all exams. Once you have a wider range of professions to choose from you can then decide as to which one you would love working with. So stop worrying and start practicing!!

All the best!
