Raigad Fort is located in Raigad district. The near by railway station to reach the fort is Veer railway station. The history about the fort is very vast. It was build by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his Engineer Hiorji Indulkar. It literally depicts the journey of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Hence we decided to plan a trip for trekking for Raigad fort.

We started our journey from Rasayani at 1.00 am and reached the over there around 4.30 am. They road journey was really awesome. We had some tea and snacks in the morning and started our trekking around 5.00 am. The atmosphere over there was foggy. It took around 2 hrs. to reach the Mena Darwaja. We stopped many shops for Lemon juice and water. On reaching the fort we hired a local village guide for our tour. He really had a good knowledge about the fort and was explaining very nicely.

Then we visited Rani's wada. It had 6 spacious houses of Queens of Maharaj. Then in afternoon we had a lunch from the local villagers. We had Zhunka and Bhakari over there. It was really very tasty. Then we visited Bazarpeth and Nagarkhana, Hirkani Buruj, Statue of Shivaji Maharaj. But to be very frank its not possible visit the whole fort in a day. Even then we tried our best to have a complete the fort. We started our return journey around 3.00 pm.

But overall we had a very good and tired journey for Raigad fort.
