The 18th of May 2010

We were on chat on the Facebook. Kedar was there.Biswajit joined a few minutes after. All are worried about Kalinganagar, POSCO et el. The State is no mood to listen. Kedar said the politicians over the years have depoliticised the state. There is hardly any possibility in the coming years that a new gen leader of standing would emerge. Contamination of the politics has much to do with the civil society too. It is not the politicians who are to be blamed entirely, rather it is our inaction or better say complacence which has worsened the situation. We tend to accept things without a question. The statusquo therefore continues or things in the process get worse. We are not naive. Neither we are simpletons. We are pseudo realists who sit on the fence and when there is imminent danger we retreat. No doubt the sad state of economy of this state has played sinister with the people, because for more than 50 % of our people hardly find a square meal a day, but the inaction/lethargy with the people at large remains a crucial factor of our backwardness. Biswajit had rightly commented about the bureaucracy. They are being paid fat just to keep mum. To follow without raising an eyebrow. That is us.Then what is to be done to arrest the growing disparities, the imbalances..?Whether the corporates will overtake everything and there will be a new colonisation..?

UPDATE:

One tribal has been lost his life recently in Kalinganagar clash. This takes the toll to 15 which includes 14 tribals who fell to bullets on 2nd of January 2006

At POSCO site the police has reportedly sent fire to shops, a few days back.Normalcy is yet to be restored. Will it stop..?
