I’d like to first start by congratulating Mallishka for the confidence with which she has over the years conducted herself when it comes to communicating and joking via the medium of a radio channel.
Radio has become one of the most popular vehicles and mediums when it comes to promoting and sharing ideas. A city like Mumbai has people spending a lot of their time commuting and Radio serves as a fantastic choice to be able to be entertained and distracted from the mayhem of the city.
The morning of the 23rd of July, 2009 was wonderful as I heard her (Mallishka's) lovely voice over the radio and was even more overjoyed as I listened to the wonderful choice of songs that played over your channel. I was however appalled later when I heard her talk about the MMS with respect to the Splitsvilla contest on MTV and went further ahead to actually tell people where they could download it from!!!!
I would have imagined that someone like Mallishka with a wonderful social conscience would have reprimanded such an act rather than ‘promote’ it…
Being a woman I think it just seemed in very bad taste to make fun of the MMS and attempt to disrespect another woman. You(Mallishka) have been around for a while and are looked up to and revered by many and I do believe that you could have utilized your position more gracefully to be able to see that if there was a message you did want to convey, it could have been done with more tact and elegance.
I am astonished that Radio has gotten to a point where it seems to be promoting porn rather than using this medium to educate the masses. We come from a culture that epitomizes grace, tradition and respects our heritage and though we may have hugely been exposed to the west in the recent past, I would like us all to remember our roots and stay grounded and pride in who we are…Jai Ho
