br>Accordingto the WiMax Forum, Indiawill have more than 27.5 million broadband Internet users by 2012. Intel willwork with service providers and device manufacturers to bring out WiMAX enabled notebook and notebook tothe Indian Market by 2009. WIMAX or802.16 is like Wi-Fi on steroids. It is a fast-emerging wide-area wirelessbroadband technology that shows great promise as a ‘last mile’ solution forbringing high-speed broadband Internet access to homes and businesses. WiMax is not new. Most everyone in the industry has beentalking about it for years. It's in emerging economies like India, where thereis little connectivity and where mobile usage is towering because of thedifficulty in getting broadband wires to homes and offices, that WiMax is likely to see its fullprospective as a commercially viable technology. Indian market is where theconditions for a WiMax deploymentare the best because of limited fixed lines. If it doesn't succeed in India, it willbe difficult anywhere else.
