I downloaded and burned the most-recent SimplyMepis version 3.3.1-1 and guess what? They have my modem drivers! The only bad trade-off I have now is the lights on my PCMCIA card are reversed.. the power light is the one that is flickering and should be constantly on while the link light is the on read more...

What achilles76 said is true, MS does make some good stuff, but guess what.. that 3-D rendering wasn't created by Microsoft, it was politely 'borrowed' from Sun Solaris. I definitely liked the article, it was a good read. In my opinion, though, Windows 2000 Professional SP4 has been the best OS I've used. I use XP Home and XP Professional as well, but I prefer XP Pro as you can log into domains with Pro whereas you cannot with XP Home. Some people seem to think read more...

I think Slackware has its place, definitely, but Linux as a whole is trying to make it to the desktop to stop the monopoly known as Microsoft. I think Fedora is a great Linux distro, I learned what Linux I know using Red Hat 7.2. The problem with Linux in general is the same.. modem drivers, wireless drivers, printer drivers and scanner drivers.
