I had great expectations when I booked a flat of Real Value in their Taramani Project titled Sai Peace & Prosperity. Alas, I lost both peace and prosperity and running after Sai! Hopefully RERA will rein in such errant promoters who care little about their customers. I’m now eagerly awaiting its implementation in Tamilnadu. With all their political connections, these high profile promoters get away easily and hardly face the music. I understand that the Company has defaulted on service tax liability of Rs. 1.90 crores. With their flamboyant advertisements and past glory, these unscrupulous builders bait unsuspecting and gullible customers to enroll in their projects and then leave them high and dry in the middle after collecting huge amounts. I’m sure that I’m not alone in this position and there may be hundreds of affected people who have sunk in their hard-earned money and awaiting the return in cash or in kind. I would suggest a gradation of builders based on their past credentials and capital punishment for errant builders so others take the cue and deliver the goods in time and with quality.
