Few days back, I had to purchase a new refrigerator urgently, as my old one was giving trouble and we are already in peak of summer. I wanted to buy it from Tata Neu, where I made my past purchases, for the trust in the Tata Group. For some reason, the Tata Neu app did not list/display many options and so I wanted to look for one on the Croma app.
In a hurry, I searched for Croma app on the playstore, downloaded it, surfed through the listings and purchased a Whirlpool 327 lts. To my utter shock and dismay, the order got placed on Flipkart and that is when I realized that the app I downloaded was not Croma but Cromo Store by Flipkart.(screenshot attached).
While one may say that there is nothing illegal in Flipkart floating an app with the name Cromo, the intentions of Flipkart are obvious, making me feel cheated and more so, left hurt with the thought that this is how majority of the Indian brands/companies / people stoop down and degrade themselves, which makes the world loose trust & faith in them due to their unethical, unscrupulous and unprofessional indulgence for gaining market share.
Would request Flipkart to stop indulging in such activities, as this wont keep you going for long - you get back what you give!
I have uninstalled the Flipkart app and learnt a lesson to be very careful in future .
Would request the Tata’s to strengthen their trademark policy - please block/apply for phonetics/homophones, to avoid such trademark infringements.
