The main reason why I stated Language as con is because I saw this movie dubbed in Hindi:-|.yah
dubbing was terrible but then it is said compassion has no language.
The movie stars Roberto Benigni, Nicoletta Braschi and Giorgio Cantarini
The movie is timed around World war 2 and the atrocities that the jews had to face at that time.
Story:- Roberto Benigni who plays the character of Guido is a happy go lucky waiter in Italy in late 1930s. He sees a girl by accident and falls in love with her. The problem is the girl is already engaged to a rich man who is also her childhood friend.How Guido manages to win her heart and marry her is funny as well as romantic. The two has a son Joshua(Giorgio Cantarini). It is Joshua’s birthday when the Nazi captures Guido and Joshua along with their uncle Eliseo( Giustino Durano) and take to a factory to work Their Crime-They were JEWS. Dora(Nicoletta Braschi) Guido’s wife was a christian hence she was spared but she decides to go along with them.
The second part of the movie shows how a father saves his son from the torture of the concentration camp without even letting him know this it was emotionally magical, I could feel tears in my eyes.
Some of the high points of the movie:
The way Guido proposed to Dora.straight forward and to the point. I guess women like it that way, at least I do:)
when the jailor comes to explain the rules and the regulation of the camp.and Guido explains i think it was awesome
3 the way Guido Hijacks Dora after opera that was hilarious and very romantic
4 The last scene of Guido, I cant tell I guess you have to watch the movie fo that.and I strongly suggest you watch it.
Performances:
This is oscar winning role of Roberto Benigni so I really dont have much to say about his performance except that he is brilliant!
As Dora Nicoletta Braschi supported him well, she looked pretty and acted well specially the where she makes the train stop and boarded it she was marvellous .
Giorgio Cantarini as Joshua is wonderful and believable he is really a good actor
Technically the movie is almost flawless, editing and screenplay are good and the story is wonderful.
Cant tell you about the dialogues though and you know why:D
All in All this 1997 romantic comedy yet a tragedy will move you heart A must watch.
