Amritlal is a traditional man who wants to control everything and uphold traditional values. Amritlal is afraid that his family’’s reputation will be harmed if Jairaj becomes a dancer.

Lata’’s parents argue with her about her career as a dancer after marriage because they believe that dancing is not a suitable profession for men. Amritlal, Lata’’s father, believes that dance is not a way to earn money and that it is not a suitable profession for men. He tries to divert his son Jairaj from dance.
Lata has a passion for the instruments, sounds, vibrations and rhythms, because she learnt the art of dance from her parents. She has an insecure feeling that her married life would ruin her art and her individuality. She even refuses to have children right away after marraige.
