If a terrorist is someone who attacks citizens and "civilian" targets in hopes of influencing government, is the character of "V" a terrorist and are his deeds terrorism?
The character of "V" is very complex. Some of his deeds are noble, while others are monstrous. In the film he makes a threat to carry out one specific act on November 5 of the following year. Is that act moral or immoral? Is it useful in a fight against tyranny?
Do you see parallels between the movie and our society today? Cite specific examples. Consider surveillance, the use of torture and threats, the media and propaganda, attitudes about homosexuality, and law enforcement.
The term “patriarchy” describes a society or government designed to maintain the power of men at the expense of women, often through both overt abuse and coded misogyny. What comment does V’s “performance” of Evey’s imprisonment and torture make about patriarchy? Does he enact it or liberate her from it (or both)?
