Free Greetings for planet Earth.

Today is “Be An Angel Day”. How do I know? Well… before I answer, aren’t today Daffodil Day, Eat A Peach Day and also the Tooth Fairy Day. Well coming back to the question how I know it. Well… check out http://www.123greetings.com. Now… isn’t that supposed to be the site from where you can send tons of all sorts of cards??? Yes it is. But the Events Calendar on the website is what interests me the most. I just love this feature. It is amusing, interesting and weird at times.

And the Events Calendar as of today says that August is the Hug Month, Back To School, Romance Awareness Month, Flower Of The Month, Spoonerism (what the heck is that anyway) Month, Ice Cream Month, Coffee Month, Admit You’re Happy Month and Artist Appreciation Month. Now isn’t that interesting?

The events for this week (18-24) is Friendship Week and Thanks For All The Gifts Week, 19-25 are Gladiola Days in Minnesota, 21-24 Duck Festival Louisiana, 22-23 Potato Days (Minnesota), 22-24 Balloon Festival (Connecticut), 22-24 CornFest (Illinois), 23-24 Potato Festival (New York), 23-24 Lighthouse Weekend (New York), 23-24 Accordion Festival California, 23 Hug Your Sweetheart Day , Summerfest (South Carolina) and Ride The Wind Day, 24 Waffle Day and Can Opener Day (now that sounds weird), 25 Kiss And Make Up Day, 26 Women’s Equality Day, Horseshoe Day and Cherry Popsicle Day, 27-30 Sweet Corn Fest (Ohio), 27 Just Because Day and Banana Lovers Day, 28 Peach Festival (Michigan), 28 Autumnfest (Michigan), 29 Chop Suey Day, Lemon Juice Day and Apple Festival (North Carolina).

Well looking into September, it is Autumn, Honey Month and In Remembrance. 1 is Labor Day, 9 Teddy Bear Day, 21 Women’s Friendship Day, 27 Rosh Hashanah and many more…

Some of the events that just went by in the last week… 21 Zoroastrian New Year, 20 Lemonade Day, 20 Janmashtami, 19 Aviation Day, Spicy Food Day and Potato Day, 18 You’re A Poet And Didn’t Know It Day. Phew!!! That was a long list. Well I was jut trying to make my point.

To us Indians, I know many of the events don’t make sense as most of them as US based. We do have our Indian events being listed out. Many events are interesting. Just check them out and send cards to your loved ones. These events are good reasons to keep in touch with those you can’t touch (I mean those whoa are far away).

Now coming to the e-cards you can send, the choice is vast. You have cards for almost all occasions. Some of the categories that are always available are Birthday Greetings, Love Ecards, Stay In Touch, Friendship Ecards, Everyday Cards, Wedding, Flower Greetings, Family Ecards, Encourage/Inspire Cute Ecards, Pets Greeting Card, Religion, Sports E-cards, Gifts Greeting Card, Arts Ecards, Travel Greeting Card, At Work and Food And Drink. It also has a listing of Specials, Top Cards and Everyday Cards. If you can’t spot your card, there is the search option that lets you hunt out for a card of your choice.

The website has some cool tools, of which; Send Your Own Photo Greetings is an interesting option. If you are a Webmaster, Associates is a feature that lets users send FREE greeting cards from your web site. And finally if you want a weekly update of the latest happenings & holidays, you can subscribe. Most of the egreetings sites are available to subscribers on payment of a fee. Well 123greetings is still free. I don’t know about the future.

If you haven’t checked out this site yet, please do. Check out the Editor’s pick, you usually come across something interesting here. And don’t forget to check the events calendar and send a card to someone you always wanted to send a card to and couldn’t find the right occasions. Go on make their day and yours too!
