I just reviewed zinda two days ago and I thought that was it for me for this week with films like hamily, zinda and bluffmaster on the multiplexes .. 15park avenue was on the look out for the people who would make up their mind and come to watch it.. not casual passerbys I am sure.... I was in no mood to watch this film to start with (probably I ve seen rahul bose ham enough thru out his career...)and then I am more of a FLICK guy than serious cinema kinds...Coming to the film now ....
it groped me ... that is the first thought which comes to my head .
i will again not indulge in the story line ... so that u enjoy the film without any inhibitions or exxpectations...! (and I am sure other reviews will give u what the film is all about !)
Konkona Sen ....is an A class actor ! What rani is to black ... Konkona is to 15 park
but of course far more superior in her acting . I just loved her in this film(mr. and mrs iyer is no persoanl fav. of mine ... but in this film she takes away the cake)
Shabana azmi .. She played her role of a strict , loving , dominating, hard working woman like probably she is like that in real life.... totally efforless
Loved to see Waheeda Rehman after so long ... u will love her in this film .. as u can relate to this character so closely as probably someone u know ...
the right balane of emotion in her... old , helpless, loving , confused at times... just like old folks are.
Kanwaljeet... was okay .. I just thought he found it difficult to carry on his accent for long... was sounding forced... but then he also chipped in his bit.. good to see him after a long time too !
Old guy who plays the doctor(i am sure a popular bong actor) again was apt for the role he was given
RAHUL BOSE....king of ham... finally surprised me....he was casted well and probably also aparna sen made him do all the things he doesnt do on the screen ...
he really acted well in this film... (sorry rahul bose fans.. if any.... I dont like the way he delivers his dialouges... to say I am sorry ... he willl go Bu...pff... pffb... pffb I ..eh .. eh.. am ...pffb pffb s- s-s sorry ) I hate that ...
but then in this film he is very descent
Aparna Sen ...has made a sincere film with no inhibitions of any kind ... simply told but leaves a strong impact ..
i think Paheli aur Black cant hold a candle to a film like this...
take out bacchan out of black... u have nothing....
A lovely tale with an unusal ending...(which might disgust a few ..but then who cares)

Script I would give full marks .. unusually unique tale told thru films...
Screeplay.. very good .. the film had a significant flow and curve
Dialouges.... as set in bengal .. I would allow the properness in it ..!

background score.. kept it very sparse really liked it
effects.. very well done by the firefly team
direction ... outstanding ...only one problem I had.. (really personal.. I didnt the the kids’ performance ... very very hammed out kids... all of em.. ithink some people might think .. ohh how cute... but then not the kind of kids I have seen around or have been like that myself ..(jus kiddin! )
overall ., ... to my liking and the people who are open to cinema with substance and are appreciative of sincerity .. it is a 10 out of 19 film... I think such films should really get good funding for better promotion here and abroad.. this is alos a budding side of the so called bollywood ... which can make the world realise that bollywood aint all about cheap hollywood and euro cine copies... and all about song and dance and superheros....
there are people who aint a just makin movies... but some good cinema too!!
aparna sen.. should be compensated with all the possible award for this film
that is the only way to show some respect to such good cinema ...
