Entire clubbing scene in bangalore

Before reading this review, I would like to say its just my opinion about the clubbing scene in bangalore and also I have been out of bangalore for 2 yrs now, though I did visit in dec 2002 for month, hit almost all the clubs and made up for my lost time!

Yes, things have changed quite a lot since 2000 in the clubbing scene ( by the way, can I really call the way people dance and enjoy in clubs, rather I would say pubs, as clubbing, I don’t think so ).I noticed that people TEND to listen hip/hop a lot , which is fair enough, everyone has their own taste in music. But, to be honest, clubbing is not really hip/hop, rather its house music and I really saw that not many DJ’s in b’lore play house music.Being a bedroom DJ myself, I could sense some people being happy abt the music and some people being unhappy.

Anyways, let me come to the my reviews on clubs ( I mean pubs! ) in bangalore -

180 Proof - I went there when it first opened and went there again in dec 2002 on my holidays in b’lore and I found it quite nice and to be honest, it’s a big enough place to called a club. Crowd is decent 70% of the time I went ( I know how the crowd is in india , iam not talking about the birds, but the men who sometimes go out of their limits and behave badly )

Music wise its ok but not bad definitely, but personally I would like to see more house music coming in ), Yes, worth a visit

My Rating - 7

Urban edge - Guys, I say, don’t even bother going in there, pathetic place , pathetic sound system and rubbish music.

My Rating - 0

Sparks - I was not there when it opened, so I cannot comment on it and but when I went there now, I was not allowed 4 days consecutively, why , because I was single!, well I went in there on the fifth day and managed to get in, due to this reason, my expectation were high, but Alas!, again what a horrible club with no sparks!!

My Rating - 0

Speedzone - I know, I know, that this is not a club, but I wish it was a regular club as it could become big big place to be .i was there to watch Danny Rampling play and what a way to end the show, can you believe it, the guy from UK being chased all around by the police!!.

The sound system was good and the music played is whot I can say real club music.

Any events held there , don’t miss it, visit it once and have a good time.

My Rating - 8.5

Opium - Well, Is it a club ?…no, it’s a bar/pub .so it is obvious to some play tunes with medium loudness

My Rating - it’s a pub guys!!

There is no club to my knowledge in b’lore where I could say its club where really bangs, and in some reviews people have written saying that say Club ’xyz’ - music - trance, techno. No, trance music is completely different .I would like to see clubs in bangalore specialsing in the music they play, be it anything , hip/hop, rock, house, garage , so that each genre music lovers can go to those clubs rather than hitting the same couple of clubs and going to the DJ and asking, hey, can you play that song, this song , blah blah blah if you know what I’m trying to say.

Anyways , to round it off, I would like to share an incident with you that happened to me in b’lore while clubbing. I just wanted to see how the crowd react to Hardhouse music , and requested the DJ, if could play couple of my tunes on my CD, he said yes, and I was excited . The moment he played my requested tune( it was a tune mixed by LISHA LASHES, if you ever get a chance to watch her play , please do so and you will come to know what real clubbing is !! ) , every body started going to the DJ and saying what the hell are you playing !!..

The bottom line is, real clubbing is still not landed in b’lore or be it anywhere in India, its still a long way to go….
