I just picked up a cassette of this album when I was in my 9th grade, 1993 I think. That was it. I listened to it back to back for hours together, thus getting introduced to the Beatles.
1962–1966 (widely known as The Red Album) is a compilation of The Beatles greatest hits from 1962 to 1966 and reached #3 on both the U.K. Album Chart and U.S. Billboard chart. It was released in April 1973.
The Fab Four themselves participated in selecting the songs for inclusion, as well as the colours and pictures.Even though the group had had success with cover versions of songs, most notably with "Twist and Shout", which made #2 on the Billboard charts, only songs composed by the Beatles themselves were included.
I then went on to procure a Vinyl record set of the same. Slowly and steady as my Beatles vinly collection grew, I did a small audit and in my last count I have 47 Vinlys of the Red Album out of the 11, 672 vinyl records that I have. Please feel free to contact me if you want to know about my Beatles collection.
